Douglas Gandy was the son of Mary Gandy, of Byker, Newcastle upon Tyne

Newcastle Evening Chronicle 07/01/1943 reports with a photograph:-
A.B. Douglas Gandy. R.N.V.R., son of Mrs. Gandy, of 4, Harvey Street, Byker, has been lost at sea through enemy action.
