In Tynemouth (Preston) Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of:

F.J. Boorman
Able Seaman, RN. C/JX 143090
H.M.S. Jervis
19th March 1940.

He was killed with 16 other crew members when the vessel was in a collision near Longstone Light.

Mrs. Boorman, 23, Cinque Ports Avenue, Hythe, has received notification from the Admiralty that her second son, Frederick James Boorman, aged 20, has died as the result of an accident sustained while serving on his ship, a submarine detector.
Mrs. Boorman, with another son, Kenneth, who Is in the Army, and a friend, Mr. A. Fedder, travelled to North Shields on Wednesday for the funeral which took place at Preston Cemetery with full Naval honours.
Mrs. Boorman has been a widow since last August, when her husband, Mr. Frederick Boorman, who was wounded six times in the last war, died as the result of a motor cycling accident.
