He was the son of Robert William and Mary Abernethy, of North Shields and the husband of Agnes Elizabeth Abernethy, of North Shields.

Norman Robert Abernethy is remembered in our List of Ships’ Crews.

H.M.S. Delphinium survived the war and was scrapped in 1949.
