On Tower Hill Memorial is the name of Third Engineer Albert Ballantine, serving on S.S. Axminster (London) with the Mercantile Marine who died 13/11/1917.

The son of Annabel Ballantine (nee Tate), of 28, Military Road, North Shields, and the late Thomas Boxshall Ballantine. He was born at North Shields.

Albert Ballantine was born 22nd August 1892. the youngest son of Thomas and Annabel Ballantine.

Shields Daily News 26/11/1917:
Deaths. BALLANTINE. Lost at sea, on the 13th November, Albert aged 25 years, beloved youngest son of Annabel and the late Thomas B. Ballantine, 28 Military Road, North Shields.

Albert Ballantine is remembered at North Shields on N34.16 and  in our List of Ships’ Crews.
