On Tower Hill Memorial is the name of Assistant Cook Stanley Sherringham, serving on S.S. Florentia (Whitby) with the Mercantile Marine who died 29/06/1918.

The son of William and Georgina Sherringham (nee Murray), of 9, Goschen Street, Blyth

An “In Remembrance” notice was placed in Blyth News 04/07/1921 which reads:-
Sherringham In loving memory of Stanley Sherringham, beloved son of W.R. and Georgina Sherringham, of 9 Goschen Street, Blyth, who lost his life at sea through enemy action, June 29th 1918. Ever remembered by his father and mother, brothers and sisters.

Stanley Sherringham is remembered at Blyth on B42.24 and in our List of Ships’ Crews.
