of William and Daisy Barrett

Doris Hook was the daughter of William Arthur and Daisy Barrett, of Blyth and the wife of James Hook. She was born on the 22nd December 1921 and died in Preston Infirmary Lancashire of Pulmonary Tuberculosis.

Alan Munday suggests that her name may have been given wrongly as Huck on B42.04

H.M.S. Elfin was a ‘stone frigate’ – a shore based establishment at Blyth. Blyth was a naval base and former Royal Navy area command established in 1914 and existed until 1946. HMS Elfin was a submarine base during World War II.
