In St. John’s Churchyard is the Commonwealth War Grave with a private headstone of P/KX 93550 Leading Stoker William Turner, serving on H.M.S. Blencathra with the Royal Navy who died 06/04/1944.

The family headstone reads:

In loving memory of
1st Class Stoker
William Turner, the beloved husband of
Isabella Turner, died April 8th
1944 aged 25 years.

William Turner is remembered in our List of Ships’ Crews.
