Every Name a Story

On the Thiepval Memorial to the Missing of the Somme, France is the name of Major Henry Sibbit, serving with the 22nd (Tyneside Scottish) Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers who died 01/07/1916.

He was the son of Thomas Henry and Janet Elizabeth Fisher Sibbit, of 26, Rothbury Terrace, Heaton, Newcastle upon Tyne.

Known as Harry he was brother of  George Bernard Sibbit.

The Newcastle Daily Chronicle 12/07/1916 carries this photo.

Henry Sibbit is remembered at Byker on B95.08, at Heaton on  H91.05,  H91.41 and H91.44,  at Jesmond on J1.15 and J1.21,  at Newcastle on NUT063, NUT126 and NUT161 and in our Lists of Teachers who fell in 1914-18 and Teachers who served in 1914-18.
