On Portsmouth Naval Memorial is the name of P/KX 76636 Petty Officer Stoker Thomas Thompson, serving with the Royal Navy on H.M.S. Acasta who died 08/06/1940.

He was the husband of A. M. Thompson, of West Hartlepool, Co. Durham.

The Hartlepool Northern Daily Mail 02/07/1940 reports with a photograph:-

Stoker Petty Officer Thomas Thompson (36), husband of Mrs. Annie Thompson, of 48 Graythorp, Seaton Carew, who was previously reported missing following the loss of H.M.S Acasta, announced on June, 8, is now officially reported killed in action.

Petty Officer Thompson, who had had 14 years’ service with the Navy, was for ten years on submarines, leaves one child, a boy aged five.

Thomas Thompson is remembered at West Hartlepool on W111.055 and 1939-1945 Military and Civilian names beginning with T, U and V and  in our List of Ships’ Crews.

He is possibly remembered at Greatham on G52.01 and G52.03 and possibly at Hartlepool on H115.016.
