Every Name a Story

In Hartlepool (Stranton) Cemetery is a headstone maintained by the Commonwealth War Grave Commission on behalf of the Ministry of Defence as a non-war headstone which reads:-

E.R. Jones
Third Engineer Officer
S.S. “Laverock”
28th April 1942.

He lived at 18 South Street Greenock.

He was found drowned with no evidence to show how the body came in the water.

Evans Robert Jones  is remembered at West Hartlepool on W111.055 and in our List of Ships’ Crews.
