The son of Albert and Catherine Rebecca Peacock, of South Bank, Middlesbrough, Yorkshire.

Sgt. Peacock was serving with 46 Sqdn. He was on patrol over the Thames Estuary in Hurricane I V7232 when he was shot down in combat.

PRESUMED KILLED ON ACTIVE SERVICE
News has been received that Sergt. – Pilot William Albert Peacock (20), elder son of Mr. and Mrs. C. Peacock, of 4 Short Street, South Bank, and formerly of Hartlepool, must now be presumed killed on active service. Sergt.- Pilot Peacock, who was originally reported missing on September 11 last, joined the Auxiliary Air Force before the war began.

He was educated at Henry Smith School, Hartlepool, and played Rugby for Durham County Schools. He was interested in most other sports, and was a member of Middlesbrough Harriers.

Before entering the service he was employed by Cargo Fleet Iron and Steel Co.

William Albert Peacock is remembered at Hartlepool on H115.08 and at West Hartlepool on W111.055
