On Portsmouth Naval Memorial is the name of P/JX 158626 Able Seaman Norman Armstrong serving on H.M.S. Hood with the Royal Navy who died 24/05/1941.

The son of Robert and Charlotte Armstrong, of Washington, Co. Durham.

Norman was born on the 5th July 1922 in Usworth, to Robert and Charlotte Armstrong. He was trained at H.M.S. Caledonia after entering the Navy. Norman was 18 years old at the time of his death.

Norman Armstrong is remembered at Usworth on U9.05, at Washington on  W96.01 and in our List of Ships’ Crews.
