On Portsmouth Naval Memorial is the name of P/MX 51909 Engine Room Artificer 3rd Class, Norman Kay, serving on H.M.S. Hood with the Royal Navy who died 24/05/1941.

The son of Bolton and Edith Kay and the husband of Eileen Maude Kay, of Titchfield, Hampshire.

He was a member of 1st Birtley (Appleyard’s Own) Scouts.

Norman Kay is remembered at Birtley on B127.01,  in the Scout Roll of Honour 1939-45 and in our List of Ships’ Crews.
