Every Name a Story
In Lyness Royal Naval Cemetery, Orkney is the Commonwealth Grave of Lieutenant James Henry Young serving on H.M.S. Malaya with the Royal Naval Reserve who died 31/05/1916.

James Henry Young was born c1883.
He served aboard H.M.S. Malaya during World War 1. He died aged 33 years taking part in the Battle of Jutland which was fought in the North Sea near the Danish Peninsula of Jutland on May 31st 1916.
H.M.S. Malaya was launched in 1915 and was a Queen Elizabeth-class battleship.
During the battle the ship was hit eight times and took major damage and heavy crew casualties. The total number of men is given as 63 died whilst 68 were injured either in battle or later of injuries.
James is buried in Lyness Naval Cemetery which is located at Hoy on Orkney.
