On the Thiepval Memorial to the Missing of the Somme, France  is the name of 6252 Private George Strong, serving with the 18th Company Machine Gun Corps (Infantry) who died 25/09/1916.

The son of the late Mathew and Annie Strong.

He was formerly Northumberland Fusiliers.

Soldiers Died states he was born and lived at Backworth and enlisted at Ashington.
