He was an Air Raid Warden. The son of Mr. and Mrs. George Edgerton, of 3 Dipe Lane, West Boldon. He died at The Folly, West Boldon.

His name is variously given as Egerton and Edgerton.

Gordon Egerton is named in the Scout Roll of Honour 1939-45 as having served with the 28th South Shields group. He was killed by a bomb whilst on duty.

Gordon Egerton is remembered in Jarrow in J2.15 and in West Boldon on W99.04 and  W99.07
