He was the son of Robert and Caroline Robertson and the husband of Margaret Robertson, of Montreal, Province of Quebec. Canada.

Born in Glasgow, Scotland on 24th  February 1894 to Robert  Wilson Robertson and his wife Caroline (nee Glass) young Robert enlisted with the Royal Navy in August 1912 and served throughout WW1 being discharged twelve years later in 1924.

Emigrating to Canada in December of the same year and settling in Montreal Robert married Margaret Glass on 30th March 1925 and found himself a job in the maintenance department at T. Eaton, the department store in Montreal. 

Enlisting with the Royal Canadian Navy on the outbreak of World War 2, he joined his first ship on 20th April 1940, and due to his previous service was almost immediately promoted to the rank of Leading Seaman.  HMS Arrowhead  was part of the Newfoundland Force and worked as an escort ship on Atlantic convoys.

Docked at Sunderland in March 1941 Stoker Robertson was accidently drowned after falling into the water after dark.
