On Tower Hill Memorial, London is the name of Third Officer Stanley McLaren serving on S.S. Ashbury with the Merchant Navy  who died 08/01/1945.

He was the son of Stanley McLaren, M.N. Master, S.S. Westcliffe Hall (died on service 7th September, 1944) and of Harriet Emma McLaren, of Mannamead, Plymouth and the husband of Doreen McLaren, of Bishop Auckland, County Durham.

In Sunderland (Ryhope Road) Cemetery is a Commonwealth War Grave which reads:

Master
S.S. “Westcliffe Hall”
7th September 1944  age 66

 Also in memory of
his son Stanley
Third Officer, M.N. age 36
lost at sea January 1945

His father Stanley died in 1944.

 Stanley McLaren is remembered at St. John’s Chapel on S115.01 and  in our List of Ships’ Crews.
