On the Plymouth Naval Memorial is the name of  D/KX 86563 Stoker First Class Albert Barrass serving on H.M. Submarine Rainbow  with the Royal Navy who died 19/10/1940.

He was the son of Thomas and Jane Barrass, of Shotton Colliery, County Durham

In Shotton (St. Saviour) Churchyard is  family headstone which reads:

In loving memory of
Thomas
beloved husband of
Jane Barrass
died 17th Feb. 1948
aged 69 years.

Also the above Jane
died 20th Aug. 1954
aged 70 years.

Also their dear son
Albert
lost at sea 18th Oct. 1940
aged 28 years.

And their dear son
Ernest
lost at sea 24th Jan. 1944
aged 23 years.

His brother Ernest also died in WW2.
