On Chatham Naval Memorial is the name of C/KX 132024 Stoker First Class Cecil Darling, serving on H.M. Submarine Turbulent with the Royal Navy who died 23/03/1943.

He was the son of Mrs. E. Darling on Amble.

In Acklington Cemetery is a family headstone which reads:

In loving memory
of
Dorothy Ann
beloved wife of
Francis Darling
who died March 30 19..
aged 71 years.

Francis Darling
died April ?22  194.
aged 84 years

Cecil Darling  ……….
aged 22 years
lost at sea March 23rd 1943
