On Portsmouth Naval Memorial is the name of P/KX 178870 Stoker 2nd Class Dennison Thomas Kelly serving on H.M.S. Isis with the Royal Navy who died 20/07/1944.

He was the son of Dennis and Lily Kelly, of West Auckland, Co. Durham.

Jean Longstaff has submitted the following:-
Dennison Thomas Kelly was born on 1st  August 1924, in Bishop Auckland the son of Dennis and Lily  (nee Hodgson) Kelly.  In 1939, Dennis Kelly worked as a general labourer at Leeming Bar RAF Station and lived in Salisbury Square, West Auckland with his wife Lily, Dennison, Alice (b.1932) and Patricia (b.1937).

The service details of Stoker Dennison Thomas Kelly have not been researched.  HMS Isis was a destroyer under the command of Lt. Cdr. Henry Dumaresq Durell which struck a mine and sank off Normandy, France on 20th July 1944, all the crew were lost.

Dennison Thomas Kelly is remembered at West Auckland on W108.03 and on our List of Ships’ Crews.
