On the Tower Hill Memorial is the name of First Engineer Ernest Jackson, serving on S.S. Lena (Cardiff) with the Mercantile Marine, who died 14/04/1917.

He was born in Sunderland, the son of Annie and the late Thomas Jackson. He was married to Nancy Jackson of 20 Noble Street, Sunderland.

Ernest Jackson is remembered at Sunderland in in S140.48 Part 8 page 172 and in our List of Ships’ Crews.
