On Portsmouth Naval Memorial is the name of P/JX 184556 Boy 1st Class Walter Wightman, serving on H.M.S. Fiji  with the Royal Navy who died 23/05/1941.

The son of Walter and Alice Jane Wightman, of Bensham, Co. Durham.

In Gateshead (Saltwell) Cemetery is a family headstone for Wightman which reads:

To the
dear
memory
of
Walter Wightman
Lost on H.M.S. “Fiji”
at Crete May 23rd 1941
Aged 16½ years.

George Wightman
Killed in action
Burma, June 3rd 1944
Aged 24 years

William C. Crooks
Died Dec. 17th 1945
