On Portsmouth Naval Memorial is the name of PO/X 2760 Marine George Harle serving on H.M.S. Royal Oak with the Royal Navy who died 14/10/1939.

The son of George and Gertrude Harle, of Dudley, Northumberland.

The Newcastle Journal 18/10/1939 reports:-
Intimation was also received yesterday by Mr. and Mrs. George Harle, 46, Weetslade Crescent, Dudley, that their son, Private George Harle, of the Royal Marines, who was serving on the Royal Oak. is missing.

And
HARLE.—Dudley, 46, Weetslade Crescent, lost at sea 14th October, 1939, H.M.S. Royal Oak, aged 22 years, George, dearly beloved son of George and Gertrude Harle. Service at St. Paul’s Church Dudley, 3 p.m. Deeply mourned.

George Harle is remembered at Dudley on D34.01 and at Longbenton on L25.10.
