On Portsmouth Naval Memorial is the name of P/MX 56293 Engine Room Artificer 4th Class Merriman Blakeborough serving on H.M.S. Barnham with the Royal Navy who died 25/11/1941.

Merriman was born January 11th 1920 at Darlington, the son of Alfred Blakeborough and Ruth, nee Taylor, of Darlington, Co. Durham.

In 1939 his parents were living at 39 Chandos Street Darlington. Alfred was a Fitter’s Labourer Heavy Worker.

Merriman Blakeborough is remembered at Darlington on D40.066 and in our List of Ships’ Crews.
