News Update

” As of every 1st July, we remember today the Anniversary of the Battle for the Defence of Rauray, which earned 70th Brigade and its supporting Units a well deserved Battle Honour for their stout defence of the area against unremitting German assaults in what proved to be the final attempt by the enemy to prevent the advance of the Allies towards Germany itself.

A serious level of casualties was incurred on both sides.  Those who wish to learn more should read the War Diaries of the Units of the Brigade for this period on the Website and, for more details, study Kevin Baverstock’s remarkable book “Breaking the Panzers”, which gives an hour by hour account of the activities of each Unit..”

The names of those who fought and died in this conflict can be looked up on the Unit Pages – descendants and relatives are most welcome to get in touch at 70brigade@newmp.org.uk if they have more information or photographs to add to our account.
