Memorial Description

a. “List of fallen heroes of the Parish” This document is hand-written on both sides of a lined piece of paper. It lists a total of 37 casualties. annotated, for example, as to the whereabouts of relatives and remarriages of widows. It is assumed that these are for inclusion on the War Memorial, as on the reverse side are listed those names which are NOT for inclusion, together with supporting information. The text indicates that all the names are listed elsewhere.

b. “A list of relatives for June 24th 1923”. This is a single handwritten piece of paper, handwritten in what appears to be the same hand as the first document, and is assumed to be the “guest list” for the dedication of the War Memorial. Relatives are listed, together with representatives of various local bodies involved. Only just over half the casualties had relative(s) down to attend on 24th June.
