   Heroic Death

   Man with his burning soul
Has but an hour of breath
To build a ship of truth
In which his soul may sail
Sail on the sea of death.
   For death takes toll
   Of beauty, courage, youth,
   Of all but truth . . . .

Mr. Henry Allen, who was a member of the
Congregation and who had served in both
wars, received this Book of Remembrance
on behalf of those who served from the
   Church of the Divine Unity.

   In accepting, he quoted:
They went with song to the battle,
      They were young.
Straight of limb, true of eye,
      steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against
      odds uncounted.
They fell with their faces to the foe.

They shall not grow old, as we that
      are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the
      years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and
      in the morning,
   We will remember them.
            Laurence Binyon.
