Parish Church of St. Mary the Virgin, South Side.

Behind altar, one at each end of the panelling containing the names from 1914-18.

In remembrance 1939-45
(Names)

At bottom of left hand plaque:
If I should die, think only this of me,
That there’s some corner of a foreign field
that is forever England.

At bottom of right hand plaque:
For our tomorrow, they gave their today.

Two plaques 15 inches high x 9 inches wide (38cms x 23cms).

There is a narrow single line border, and a plain cross at the top.

The lettering is in Roman.

1. The Broadsheet May 1995 mentions a man who saved another’s life during the 1939-45 war. He was still receiving an annual letter of thanks 35 years later.
