Memorial Description

Lychgate with stone walls and very mellow lichened slate roof.
On the inside walls are two plaques 95mm high x 72mm wide, one bearing the names and the other bearing the dedication.
The lettering is incised using Roman capitals throughout.

Materials used

Stone and slate. Bronze plaques.

Inscription

1939-1945. / In memory of / the fallen who names are / inscribed on the panel opposite / and in thanksgiving / for those who returned / in safety.

Names

Notes

1. One correspondent says the plaques are of bronze, another says they are made of steel.

2. The plaques are no longer in the lychgate due to vandalism. The plaques are inside St. Stephen's church.
