Memorial Description

Plaque, rectangular with raised centre top. The names are listed in three columns. The dates and sphere of service are in black, the names in red. All lettering is in Roman capitals throughout.

Notes

1. The initial proposal to erect a memorial was made on 6th May 1919.

2. The original proposal was for oak panelling which appears to have been carried out. An entry on page 168 in the Minute Book for 1922 reads: “Visit of the Rural Dean 22nd November 1922 remarked….”A great and new feature is the War Memorial consisting of Oak Panelling throughout the Chancel, worked in square and neatly carved – the names of the fallen are in a panel on the south ( ? ) individual (s) on the N. – the whole is excellent in effect….”W D Croudace – Rural Dean”.
