Memorial Description

Plaque 1 foot 8 inches high x 1 foot 9 inches wide. At the top are the words “For valour” with the Victoria Cross below. At the bottom is the Royal cipher. Lettering is in raised Roman capitals.

then Sergeant in the Twelfth Battalion of the
King’s Royal Rifle Corps, for most conspicuous
bravery and initiative in attack during action
on 16 August 1917 in the Ypres sector at
Langemarck Belgium

1. The new library building was opened in 1967.

2. Lieut. Cooper was selected with Sergt. Major Tosefield to lay a wreath at the unveiling of the cenotaph in 1923.
