Facing east on the coast road, on north east corner of the green, adjoining the coast road to Hartlepool, and about 100 yards from the sea.Height above sea level 27 feet.

a. Unveiled 6th February 1921 by Col. L. Robson, C.M.G., D.S.O. Dedicated by the Bishop of Durham Dr Hensley Henson.

Memorial Description

Cross of Maltese type with laurel wreath at centre raised in half relief on sandstone column. There are two steps at the base, total height 12 feet. Each side carries a tablet of green Westmorland stone 1 foot 9 inches high x 1 foot 4 inches wide (533mm x 406mm) with a rounded quarter-column at each corner and Greek key design at the top of the pedestal. The dedication is on the front and the names are listed in a single column on the remaining three panels. The lettering is incised in sans serif capitals.
The whole set on a triangular island site with small beds of flowers.

Messrs Ainslie and Collin, York Road West Hartlepool carried out the work on the monument to the design of Mr J.H. Garry architect.
