Memorial Description

Plaque with elaborate domed top set on a black marble pattress which echoes the shape. At centre top is a cross inside a circle, all raised in half relief, with the words “To the glory of God” carried round the top of the circle. The dedication is underneath this. The names are listed in a single column. All lettering is in black Roman with initials in red. The invocation is carried along the bottom in sans serif capitals.

Notes

1. Among those attending the unveiling dedication was a mother who, not only having two sons named on the memorial, had also buried another son that afternoon, aged 23, also a victim of war.

2. The collection taken at the ceremony would remove the small deficit owing on the memorial; the rest would go to the Sadberge Church Belfry Restoration Fund.
