Memorial Description

Portrait in frame 20 in. wide x 22in. high. The portrait is in the top right hand corner. The rest of the frame is filled with the Citation reprinted in extracts from the London Gazette. The details are given in a cutout panel underneath in Roman capitals.

2. Cyril Barton was taken after his crash to Cherry Knowle Hospital, but died soon after admittance.

A Chronicle of Members’ Memoirs 1999 published by The Aircrew Association Northumbrian Branch contains the story told by Len Lambert, navigator in the Halifax aircraft involved.
