Dedication, Creation or Publication date

a. South Transept converted to War Memorial Chapel in 1923. Dedicated 10th November 1923 by the Bishop of Newcastle. The panels were unveiled by Major Graham E. Angus, M.C., T.D., R.F.A.

Memorial Description

Chapel.
There are twelve carved wood panels on the south wall which carry the names from 1914-18. Another three panels on the west wall carry the names from 1939-45. All lettering is in Roman capitals with the exhortation in italics.

Notes

1. "Kneeling chairs were given by individuals, either as memorials to the fallen, or as thanksgivings for safe return" (Church guide).

2. This was the War Memorial Chapel in 1923. It became the Blessed Sacrament Chapel in 1970.
