Memorial Description

Plaque 77cm high x 65cm wide. There is a wide border of red marble, with bosses at the corners, the top two decorated with carved oak leaves, those at the bottom with carved Tudor roses. The title "Roll of Honour" is incised in Gothic script, the rest of the lettering is in sans serif capitals. The names are listed in two columns, divided by a central vertical line. Crosses to the left of the names denote those killed. One name has obviously been inserted later.

Notes

1 The plaque was formerly on the floor beside the font after being removed from the school, which is now a private dwelling. The plaque was restored in time for viewing at the "All Quiet in West Allen" event in September 2018.

2. The restoration was carried out by Heritage Consolidation funded by Whitfield with Ninebanks Parochial Council, Allendale Co-operative Society Ltd; The Gannet Co. Inc.; the Sir James Knott Trust and West Allen Parish Council.
