Memorial Description

Book of Remembrance 12 inches (304mm) high x 8 inches (204mm)wide x 1 inch (25mm) thick, bound in black leather. There are ten pages for St. Peter’s Parish and 5 pages for St. Cuthbert’s Parish.
The names are inscribed in a single column on each page. There is a cross in the top corner of each page, at the centre of each double page are the words “St. Peter’s (or St. Cuthbert’s) War Memorial 1914-1919” below which is written “To the glory of God”.
At the bottom of each right hand page is “We will remember them”. Each page is calligraphed.

Notes

1. It seems that this book replaces a wood plaque which used to hang in the Church and was lost in the fire.

2. C.D. Pyle should be C.T. Pyle. There were two Charles Tomkinson Pyles - father and son both died in WW1
