The ancient parish church of Pittington, Hallgarth throughout its long history can rarely have witnessed a more memorable event than that on Easter day, when there was a united service of thanksgiving for victory and a commemoration service for those who were killed in action or who died while on service with H.M. forces. Conducted by Rev. A W. Allen, with Rev. E.W. Tansley, Methodist minister, and Brigadier Stannard, Divisional Commander of the Salvation Army. The special form of service was an inspiration to a large congregation. At the service of dedication Coun. F.
