Unveiled 3/7/1921 by Mr. R. Milbanke Hudson, M.P., dedicated by the Lord Bishop of Durham.

Memorial Description

Crucifix
Triptych of very distinctive shape. The central part takes the form of a crucifix 39 inches high x 22 inches wide with a circle surrounding the crossing. The perimeter of the circle bears the words “The Fellowship of His Suffering” carved to stand proud.
The doors are shaped to fit the curve of the circle, opening out into four panels. Each panel is outlined by a narrow patterned border.
At the top of the two centre panels is a wreath inside which are the dates “1914” and “1918”, with the dedication below. The names are printed in a single column on each of the four panels using red and black ink.

Crucifix wood 5 feet high Oak with paper behind glass.

Notes

1. The crucifix is now in the porch area

2. A Diocesan Faculty dated 24/3/1965 gives permission for the two outer panels to be added.
