Notes

1. The booklet details the officers of the Club throughout the period of the 1914-1918 War, sets out the charitable works supported, the assistance given to Belgian refugees, describes a local Air-Raid, lists the concerts and entertainments held, refers to the money collected when a Tank made a visit to Bishop Auckland connected with the War Savings movement, and describes in considerable detail the steps taken to secure a permanent memorial in respect of Club members who had served.

The booklet goes on to describe the unveiling ceremony and also contains the photographs of those killed. The eight Club members who were awarded decorations, including two of those killed, are also listed, together with their photographs and the citations accompanying their awards. Each of the surviving six was granted Life Membership of the Club.
A description is then given of the “welcome home” celebrations, including the presentation of a “gold medal” - manufactured by Messrs Vaughton Ltd of Leeds - to each soldier, each medal individually named.
The booklet concludes with several pages of historical and chronological information on the progress of the War with statistics on the numbers of men and women engaged.
