Stained Glass Window Roberts family 1914-18 St. Oswald
St. Oswald’s Church, Church Street. In the north aisle.
Dedicated January 1920 by Rev. C.R.J. Loxley.
Stained glass window of single light 8 feet 6 inches high x 1 foot 8 inches wide depicting the Mother Mary with child. The dedication is carried along the bottom in elaborate lower case script.

Mrs. Roberts of Hollingside

1. Capt. Roberts was the father, the other two his sons. It would seem that the father died towards the end of the war knowing two sons had been killed.
2. Below the window there is a brass plaque dedicated to Annie Chipchase Roberts who died in 1924.
3. It would appear that the window was unveiled before the Faculty was issued.
4. The window appears to read "Frederick I. Roberts" but this should be "Frederick J." Look at the word June which appears to be spelled "Iune".
CWGC entry is for "Frederick John".
