Memorial Description

Plaque, 43cm high x 61cm wide in a carved wood frame 100cm high x 66cm high. There is a border with geometric pattern with a square in each corner with a saltire with red background. The names are in two columns using sans serif capitals. The dedication and quotation are both in Gothic lower case lettering with red initials.

Notes

1. Until the re-union of the three strands of Methodism in 1932, this church had been used by the Wesleyan Methodists. The United Methodists had worshipped in Hill Street until that church closed in 1939, and the Primitive Methodists had worshipped in the Market Place Church until it closed in 1985.

Newcastle Daily Journal 30/07/1920 reports that the members had raised £98 towards the renovation of their church and placing a tablet in memory of 11 members who had sacrificed their lives in the Great War.
