Sculptor, Artist or Designer

The top left hand window designed by Burne-Jones, the bottom left and right top and bottom designed by Henry Dearle; glass made by Morris and Co. London.

Notes

1. "Le jour viendra” - “The day will come” - is the motto of the Lambton family.

2. This was one of a set of three windows to members of the Lambton family, two men who died in the war and Sarah May Reynolds, who died in 1917.

3. Francis Lambton was the youngest brother of the Earl of Durham. He is remembered on B154.01

4. “The figures of Oswald and Alban designed by Burne Jones were made by Morris & Co from cartoons drawn in 1875 for Speldhurst in Kent. Burne Jones died in 1898 and Henry Morris & Co continued using his cartoons. After Burne Jones' death Henry Dearle was the chief designer and continued drawing new cartoons, very much in the style of Burne Jones.”
