Memorial Description

Illuminated Roll of Honour behind glass in a wide frame. There is a wide border of leaves and flowers with squares containing flowers at regular intervals. At centre top is a badge surrounded by laurel leaves. Below the dedication are the names of those who died, followed by the names of those who served. All names are listed in three columns. The lettering is all hand written using an archaic script, in capital letters throughout, using black ink with some initials illuminated in red in the dedication.

To hold in honourable remembrance the / names of those of their school fellows / who fought for their Sovereign and Country / in the South African War 1899-1902. This / scroll is presented to the North Eastern / County School by the members of the / Old Boys’ Club.
Dulce et Decorum Est Pro Patria Mori.
