Notes

1. “Mr. Thomas Forsyth Wilson, of 1 Wellington Terrace, South Shields, whose death occurred on June 23 last, has left estate valued at £21,563 3s 4d. Charitable bequest are: £1,000 each to the Ingham Infirmary, South Shields, and to the South Shields Cricket and Westoe Lawn Tennis Club; the latter he desired to be applied towards the purchase of the freehold of their present grounds, as a memorial to those who have fallen in the present war.”

2. “2 May 1948. 2 plaques to commemorate the dead of both wars unveiled in the pavilion by F.W. Newby, Chairman of the Governing Board”.

3. There was also supposed to be a cup awarded in memory of a soldier who played at the club and who was killed in 1918.
