The translation from the Latin reads:
Recently wounded in war, now dead for his country.

Memorial Description:

Plaque 14 inches high x 24 inches wide (36cms x 61cms).

There is a wide border of vine leaves raised on a black background.

At centre top is a badge.

The lettering is in Roman capitals.
