In Barly French Military Cemetery, France is the Commonwealth War Grave of T/31823 Driver George Halliday, serving with the H.Q. Company 4th Division Train Army Service Corps who died 18/01/1917.

The son of Thomas and Rachel Halliday, of Jarrow, Co. Durham.

Peter Hoy has submitted the following (his ref: 710):

Driver George Halliday, HQ Company 4th Divisional Train Army Service Corps (T/31823), KIA 18 January 1917, aged 34. Barly French Military Cemetery. II.A.10.

Son of Thomas and the late Rachel Halliday of Jarrow. Resided in Jarrow. (1042).

Brother of David Halliday, killed 1915, and Rees, died 1917. Brother and Sister-in-Law: Tom and Mollie.

He arrived in France on the 20th (?) March 1915.

George Halliday is not remembered on a North East War Memorial. .
