On Thiepval Memorial to the Missing of the Somme, France is the name of 26/449 Private Thomas Mackin serving with the 26th Tyneside Irish Battalion of the Northumberland Fusiliers who died 01/07/1916.
The husband of Mary Emma Ryan (formerly Mackin), of 19, Blake Street, Easington Colliery, Co. Durham.
Thomas Mackin, born in 1892 at Felling was the son of Michael and Mary Ann Mackin.
He enlisted at Sunderland into ‘A’ Company, 26th Battalion (3rd Tyneside Irish) of the Northumberland Fusiliers.
He was killed in action on 1st July 1916 and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial.
His brother Peter also died in the Great War.
Thomas Mackin is remembered at Easington Colliery on E52.01 and E52.03
