On the Doiran Memorial, Greece is the name of Captain Charles Neville Crawshaw, M.C., MiD., serving as  Adjutant with 8th Battalion the Royal Scots Fusiliers who died 19/09/1918.

He was the son of Ambrose and Nancy Crawshaw and the husband of Florence Annie Crawshaw

He was a teacher at Johnstone School.

He enlisted in Blackpool, December 1914 as Lance Corp No 18532 in Loyal North Lancs Regiment. He was commissioned in this Regiment as an Lieutenant and transferred to 8th Battalion The Royal Scots Fusiliers where he was made a Captain and Adjutant.

He died 19/09/1918 age 28 in Salonika, in the assault on Grand Courane. His Regiment was in the centre of the attack, the attack failed and he was left mortally wounded in enemy lines when his Regiment withdrew.

Medals: Military Cross, 1914-1915 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal, MID and Oak Leaf.

The Supplement to the London Gazette 11 June 1918 page 6907 reports that Capt. C.N. Crawshaw should be an Adjutant.
